Commenting Policy

This blog practices fair speech.

Fair speech is about ensuring that all voices are heard, especially those from marginalized groups whose stories and experiences are often dismissed or ignored. Where free speech favours the powerful by refusing to acknowledge that not everyone has equal access to speech, and that all voices are not heard, fair speech recognizes these patterns and attempts to subvert them.

I reserve the right to refuse to publish comments which are oppressive, trolling, dismissive, or hateful, and I am the person who decides if your comment is one of those things. I will tolerate no mansplaining, concern trolling, victim-blaming, fat-shaming, body-policing, transphobia, or disablism.

This blog is not about Feminism 101. Please do not come here and ask questions about what feminism is or whether we still need it, because the answers are "do some research" and "obviously". Melissa McEwan over at Shakesville has a great resource for those introductory questions, and you can find it here. You should also read her Rape Culture 101 here.

If you are a man and are interested in participating in these discussions, please read Commenting While Male before contributing.
